Rice NoodlesIngredients for preparing Rice Noodles

  • Rice Powder   -  2  cups
  • Water   -  1    cup
  • Grated Coconut   -  ½  cup
  • Salt to taste  -  ½  tsp
  • Oil    - 1    tbsp

Steps for preparing Rice Noodles

  1. Boil water in a vessel, add salt to the water.
  2. Add boiled water to the rice flour little by little, knead well and prepare soft dough. Allow it to cool.
  3. Rice noodles or idiyappam can be made using an idiyappam maker or presser. At first fix the perforated disc at the bottom of the maker. Then lightly grease inner portion of the maker and put a handful size of the dough.
  4. Close the maker with the lid and press tightly so that the dough will come out through the holes like noodles. Gently rotate it onto the greased idly mould to form circular mound.
  5. Repeat the steps with the remaining dough and make as many idiyappam as possible.
  6. Finally top it with grated coconut and steam for about 15 minutes till the idiyappam is cooked.
  7. Serve hot with coconut milk or any spicy curry.
